About Us

The professional team of eye care specialists at Stratton Opticians includes fully GOC registered ophthalmic opticians, dispensing opticians and contact lens specialists. Our optical advisors are also very well versed in frame styling and have a depth of knowledge on our Varilux lens ranges.

Since 1976, we have always been an independent family run practice who continue to build upon our excellent reputation within the local community for outstanding eye care. We pride ourselves on serving the local community with meticulous care in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens check-ups are supported by the latest diagnostic instruments.

All our staff have worked together for a number of years and have built a truly collaborative and team-focused working culture. As such they provide invaluable support for one another and also have a great understanding of our patients’ needs.

Stratton Opticians is an independently owned optician's practise in Billericay, Essex. We are a family run practice who continues to build upon the excellent reputation for quality eye care. JAS CHAGGAR
BSC (Hons) Optometrist

Jas qualified as an Optometrist in 2006, with a BSc (Hons) in Optometry from City University. Jas went on to successfully complete his professional examinations and is fully registered with the General Optical Council and the Association of Optometrists. In addition to testing all types of patients, Jas takes a particular interest in using specialist coloured filters to assist children and adults with dyslexia and reading difficulties. He really enjoys this field of his work and has had many amazing results over the years, with children and adults noticing dramatic improvements in their reading.

TAN CHAGGAR
BSc (Hons) Optometrist MCOptom

Tan qualified as an Optometrist in 2008, with a BSc (Hons) in Optometry from Aston University. She is a member of the College of Optometrists, the General Optical Council and the Association of Optometrists. During her 10 years in the profession, Tan has worked for both high street chains and independent opticians, and quickly realised she much preferred the independent approach. Tan takes a particular interest in comprehensively testing the sight of children using various advanced tests. She also specialises in fitting all types and brands of contact lenses to suit individual patient needs (such as multi-focal contact lenses).

Sheila is our practice receptionist and optical advisor and is the newest member of our team. She always greets our patients with a very warm welcome, both in person and over the phone. Sheila will always take the time to understand what our patient needs are and then address any concerns they may have. She is always very organised, professional and ensures our patients experience is a memorable one.

Dispensing Specialist & Optical Advisor


Amy is the newest member of our team and is our dispensing specialist. Her role includes keeping our frame styles up to date and ensuring our patients leave with the most suitable style frame and optical lenses for their needs. Amy's attention to detail and keen interest in popular frame styles gives our patients an unparalleled experience when choosing their glasses and ensures they leave with a perfectly fitted pair of bespoke spectacles.
